The Chairman of ANCB along with the board of directors are elected by the ANCB General Assembly for a period of one year.
The ANCB Chairman has the following tasks and obligations:
- Chairing the meetings of the Board of Directors.
- Chairing the ANCB general assemblies and extraordinary meetings.
- Taking part in the meetings of Afghanistan government organs, UN and international organizations as the representative of the Board of Directors.
- Signing documents of ANCB on behalf of the Board of Directors.
- Signing ANCB's financial cheques along with one of the Board of Directors.
- Delivering the progressive report and the activities of ANCB in each general assembly and extraordinary meeting.
- Managing and directing all activities of ANCB offices and delivering reports to the general assembly.
Setting up professional and techincal committees for better coordination activities.
- Appointing executive staff for ANCB offices as well as advisors regarding the policy and administrative criteria of ANCB.
